Don’t let me down
Or leave me here,
Just cut me down
And disappear,
Don’t let me know
Or tell me when,
The cruelest blow
Bury me then,
Don’t let me breathe
And suffocate,
In lies you weave
It gets too late,
Don’t let my song
Hang in the air,
With words so wrong
And none to spare,
Don’t let me walk
With only hate,
Whilst others stalk
The open gate,
Don’t let me down
Or leave me here,
Just cut me down
I’ll disappear.

Chris, you poem left me
hanging,
with each word anticipating.

Your work is always such a fascination Chris.
There is a strong juxtaposition of phrases and meanings throughout this one for me where you appear to contradict and yet I don’t think you are. I know you’re purposeful and intelligent, everything in this poem is deliberate, Thank you for sharing it.

Thank you, Maggie for your kind words. The juxtaposition is, as you picked up on, intentional – a sort of ‘ caught between a rock…’ scenario in some ways. I appreciate your feedback here.

A beautiful piece that can evoke various interpretations, none of which are wrong. Which is what good art is all about.

I like this. I get a sense of the limits we put on ourselves by thinking there are only two directions to take on any given stance. And the indecision leads to something incomplete. A tearing apart, both in a wrong direction.
