you exist in your meaningful patterns
scattered through spaces
unaware of your age and movements
and unburdened by your weight
we learn of your formation, evolution, composition
your velocity and luminosity
we know of your distances and how constellations
change shape across the sweep of time
we travel back in time by looking up at you
yet, you hover over us
knowing much more than
we ever will

This makes me think of memories like spirits that both haunt and enlighten our days. Thoughtful words, B.

Your kind of topic, Chris.
It made me think of how small and insignificant we are and how little we know.
Thank you for your kind words.

How true that is – and, yes, I guess it is!

Thank you. As we’d often say, I wasn’t sure where I was going with this one.
I saw stars and how irrelevant our lives and worries are in the grand scheme of things.

The powerful stars. Beacons they are to me. Scions of something grander than ever imagined.

They are, aren’t they?
This calls for a poem or so it seems.

Hmmm…sounds like a challenge/prompt.

Like the stars…Thank you, Sam.
I like on and off stripping things of pretentious language, complexity and overthinking, which can be pretty hard.
My favorite poets and painters are rather simple, yet profound, in their expression.

That’s a beautiful sentiment, and I agree with that. Poetry doesn’t need pretentious language, especially if the writer is talented in her expression, as you are.
